Otterly Ridiculous: Stealing Surfboards from Local Surfers in Santa Cruz

We all know Santa Cruz is a surfer's paradise, but did you know it's now also an otter's paradise? That's right, recently a rogue otter has been caught stealing surfboards right from the hands of local surfers while they're out enjoying the waves.

The otter, which has been nicknamed “Stripes” by locals, is believed to have been stealing the boards for the past few months, during which time the theft rate has skyrocketed. Despite the fact that the surfboards have been reported stolen, Stripes has managed to stay one step ahead of the police.

The local surfers have been taking to the waves with more caution since the thefts began, as they’re afraid the otter might strike again. So far, no one has been able to catch Stripes in the act, but some savvy surfers have taken to bringing along extra boards, just in case.

Stripes’ thieving ways have caused a stir in the community, with some speculating that an increase in the otter population may be to blame. Others, however, point to Stripes’ natural curiosity for the thefts.

Whatever the cause, Stripes has been stealing surfboards at an alarming rate, leaving many surfers feeling violated and unsure of their safety. Some have even taken to using shark cages for protection while they surf, in the hopes of deterring any otters from getting too close.

It remains to be seen just how long Stripes will continue to steal surfboards in Santa Cruz, but until then, local surfers will have to remain vigilant. After all, no one wants to be the next victim of the Santa Cruz Otter's thieving ways.

We should be more understanding of Stripes' natural curiosity. Stealing surfboards isn't the right way to go about it, but maybe we can find a way to help him out!
